Near-Infrared Spectroscopy and Mode Cloning (NIR-MC) for In-Situ Analysis of Crude Protein in Bamboo

This study develops Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) and Mode-Cloning (MC) for the rapid assessment of nutritional quality bamboo leaves, primary diet giant pandas (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) red (Ailurus fulgens). To test NIR-MC approach, we evaluated three species (Phyllostachys bissetii, Phyllostachys rubromarginata, aureosulcata). incorporated a Slope Bias Correction (SBC) transform to crude protein prediction models built with NIR spectra taken from Fine–Ground leaves (master mode). The modified were then applied in satellite minimal processing modes (Course–Ground, Dry–Whole, Fresh–Whole). using SBC yielded residual deviation (RPD) = 2.73 1.84 Course–Ground Dry–Whole sample modes, respectively, indicating good quantitative minimally processed samples that could be easily acquired under field conditions portable drier grinder. approach also improved model collected Fresh–Whole field. Thus, has potential provide real-time macronutrient distribution situ, which affects foraging behavior dispersion their natural habitats.
